Biography

Prolific composer Pinar Toprak has written music for an impressive number of diverse movies and distinguised filmmakers with over 25 scores in the last four years. Her score for The Lightkeepers was on the Oscar short list of eligible scores. Some of the other films she has scored are the action feature film Behind Enemy Lines 2: Axis of Evil, the crime drama Breaking Point, the animated feature Light of Olympia as well as the romantic drama Say It In Russian. She has also written music for the Xbox 360 video game Ninety Nine Nights, as well as numerous trailers and commercials.

Pinar was born in Istanbul and began her music education at the age of five at the renowned Istanbul State Conservatory. In 1997, Pinar moved to Chicago and studied piano and jazz theory with many master jazz pianists. Later she decided to combine her two biggest passions, music and film, and traveled to Boston to attend Berklee College of Music. At the age of 22, she received a Master of Music degree in composition. Upon graduation she had the privilege to join the Media Ventures team home of legendary film composer Hans Zimmer during projects such as Pirates of the Caribbean, The Last Samurai and King Arthur.

She currently resides in Los Angeles working out of her own studio.
