With the delightful and moving score for Dan Ireland's award-winning drama Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont, starring Joan Plowright and Rupert Friend, 24-year old Stephen Barton recently emerged as one of the most interesting young composers in the film business. Barton's warm and heartfelt score plays a vital role in Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont, an unusual story about a very special friendship between an old woman and a young writer.

Despite his young age, Stephen Barton has already established himself as a key member of A-list composer Harry Gregson-Williams film music team. Barton has contributed additional music to Shrek 2, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Kingdom of Heaven, Team America: World Police, Man on Fire and the current animation feature Flushed Away, among others. In return, Harry Gregson-Williams produced Barton's score for Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont, which is beautifully orchestrated for a chamber-sized ensemble featuring many instrumental solos for piano and woodwinds, recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London.

Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont has won the hearts of audiences around the world, and won the Audience Award at the Palm Springs Film Festival. Joan Plowright was nominated to a Satellite Award for her unforgettable portrait of Mrs. Palfrey.
