Nuno Malo, born in 1977, has worked on many feature films including The Celestine Prophecy, directed by Armand Mastroianni. Three of the films he has worked on become the #1 Portuguese Box office hit of the year, and Filme Da Treta become the #2 all-time box office record for a Portuguese film. Malo’s music has also been heard in the concert hall by such orchestras as the Orquestra Nacional do Porto, Orquestra Sinfónica Portuguesa, and he is about to have music performed in a conert by the Lisbon Film Orquestra, for which he has been comissioned to write an “Elegy” for the Portuguese famous actor Antonio Feio, who has recently passed away.
Nuno often performs in his own scores a variety of instruments including piano, guitars, gusle (Croatian violin), ethnic flutes, duduk, etc. He has written scores for twelve feature films, several concert pieces, a ballet, among other things. He is the recipient of numerous awards for his compositions including: The Malcolm Arnold Prize, The Worshipful Company of Musicians Silver Medal, The Henry Purcell Composition Prize, the Camões Song Competition, and a nomination at the Golden Melody Awards, Taiwan. Nuno currently lives in Los Angeles with his pianist wife Ivana.
