John R. Graham grew up in Virginia near the Blue Ridge Mountains. He studied at Charterhouse School in Surrey, and at Williams College, UCLA and Stanford University.

He has scored over a dozen features, including American Strays, Bitch Slap, and My Brother's War. In addition, Graham has written music used in trailers for dozens of well-known films, including The Adventures of Tintin, Tangled, Avatar, Edge of Darkness, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and Night at the Museum 2.
