PATRICK DOYLE
Biography

Patrick Doyle studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and graduated in 1974. He was made a fellow of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music in 2001. His first theatre score was written in 1978, and subsequently Patrick has written the music for a host of other theatre, radio, television and film productions.

In 1987, Patrick joined the Renaissance Theatre Company as composer and musical director. During this time he completed a British tour of a number of productions for high profile directors such as Sir Derek Jacobi, Geraldine McEwan and Dame Judi Dench.

In 1989 director Kenneth Branagh commissioned Patrick to write the original score for the Renaissance Film Company production of Henry V. The song ‘Non Nobis Domine’, from the film, was awarded the 1989 Ivor Novello Award for Best Film Theme. Since then, Patrick Doyle has been one of the most in-demand composers in the film business, writing music for both Hollywood and European productions. Among his most prolific scores are Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Thor, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Eragon, Bridget Jones’s Diary, Nim’s Island, Nanny McPhee, Sense and Sensibility, Donni Brasco, Secondhand Lions, Gosford Park, Dead Again, Carlito’s Way, Calendar Girls and Great Expectations.
