Recognized for his distinguished body of film work as orchestrator and conductor, including several of the James Bond film scores, Nicholas Dodd is a graduate with honours from the Royal College of Music in London. Upon completion of his studies, he founded the Cheslea Symphony Orchestra (CSO) and ensemble, consisting of some of the finest of the Royal College's graduates. As well as performing at the Royal Albert Hall, the orchestra also toured in Switzerland. Paris and New York.
While in New York in 1983 with the CSO Nicholas was approached by American composer Richard Adler to conduct the European Premiere of his "Wilderness Suite" in London. He subsequently conducted the Houston Symphony Orchestra as a highlight of their 1987 Mostly Mozart Festival. Nicholas orchestrated and conducted several cues for Michael Crawford's "EFX" at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas plus conducted the composition "Look Homeward Angel" by Richard Adler with the North Carolina Symphony Orchestra, ultimately recording the piece with the London Symphony Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios. Nicholas conducted the LSO once again with Procol Harum in "An Evening With Procol Harum" performed at the Barbican Centre in London and more recently with the Halle Orchestra and Choir. In addition, he orchestrated and conducted songs by Gary Brooker of Procol Harum with the LSO for the CD entitled "The Long Goodbye" on RCA-Victor. He has orchestrated for numerous pop groups, and in 2003-2005 conducted and arranged for Russell Watson on three of his albums, which lead to aranging and conducting the award winning album of Katherine Jenkins, "Serenade." In addition, he has written for numerous radio and television commercials.
Nicholas' feature film credit list is extensive and most notable are: "Stargate," "Independence Day," "Godzilla," "Lethal Weapon 4," "The Mummy" plus the James Bond films, "Tomorrow Never Dies," "The World Is Not Enough," "Die Another Day," and "Casino Royale." Recent projects include composer for "Renaisance" a sci-fi thriller set in Paris 2054, as well as composing the score for "Treasured Island". April of 2007 saw Nicholas conducting at The Royal festival Hall with the London Philharmonic Orchestra with the music of John Barry, to rapturous applause.
