Jessica de Rooij is one of the youngest female composers in the international film industry. She recently scored several features including the political comedy Postal and the game-based action movie Far Cry.
In 2006, she established herself by composing the score for 60 million dollar epic fantasy movie In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale in cooperation with Henning Lohner, starring Jason Statham, Burt Reynolds, John Rhys Davies, Ray Liotta and Claire Forlani. Her unique style is based upon a diverse educational background in classical, jazz & contemporary music and an earlier career as performing artist in the European music industry.
Growing up in a musical home with father Hilmar, a composer, arranger and musician himself and mother Jeanne, a well-known singer, Jessica was exposed to a high level of professionalism at an early age. At the age of four, her education began with intensive training in piano and solfege. She started composing her first pieces at the age of nine and her creativity flourished extensively over her teenage years. At the age of 15, record label BMG offered her a record deal for two albums. Jessica performed on many TV shows (ARD, ZDF, WDR, MDR, N3...) and at large music festivals as well.
Jessica has a Master of Arts in Composition in Context (Open University of England) and a Bachelor of Music with Honors (Utrecht School of Art, Media & Technology, The Netherlands). She frequently works with well-known orchestras and musicians. Currently she resides in Los Angeles, California.
