Christopher Bowen is an American composer. The soundtrack for the Annie award nominated $9.99 marks his second feature film score. In 2007, he wrote the score for the Israel-France co-produced feature Jellyfish (winner of the 2007 Cannes Film Festival Camera D’Or) written by Shira Geffen and co-directed by Ms. Geffen and popular Israeli short story writer, Etgar Keret.
He began his composing career writing for theatre and short films. Projects have included The Pinocchio Experiment, a one-man show written and performed by Randall Jaynes, the short film The Green Hour by Nicole Kassell (director of the award-winning feature The Woodsman) and Fear Of Flying by Jeffrey Doornbos. He began his longtime collaboration with $9.99’s director Tatia Rosenthal with several short films including Breaking The Pig, the award-winning Crazy Glue, and A Buck’s Worth; all based on stories by Etgar Keret.
In addition to scoring for film, Christopher is also a member of the internationally acclaimed Blue Man Group. He has appeared on numerous stages around the world and television shows including the Tonite Show with Jay Leno, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and Live with Regis and Kelly. 2 Summer Tour of 2002 - sharing the bill with David Bowie and Moby, performing at the Hollywood Bowl in 2006 with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra conducted by John Mauceri, and a recent collaboration with the Kodo Drummers of Japan. Other music credits include live performance arrangements for Blue Man Group’s signature 3-person 3+-octave PVC tube instrument, performing PVC and percussion on the Grammynominated album Audio and The Complex, and performing on a wide variety of Blue Man-invented metal percussion instruments and PVC in John Powell’s soundtrack for 20th Century Fox’s animated feature, Robots. Christopher holds a degree from Bennington College in Vermont, where he studied theatre and music. He lives in New York City.
