MovieScore Media is a film music company based in Sweden. It was founded in November, 2005, by Mikael Carlsson, a film music journalist with over 15 years of experience as a writer, critic and editor. Prior to the launch of MovieScore Media, Mikael was the chief correspondent of Music from the Movies for many years while working as a news journalist on various newspapers, including Metro. He decided to found MovieScore Media in order to focus completely on his passion: film music.

MovieScore Media is a soundtrack label devoted to discover and release high quality film scores. The quality of the music, rather than commercial properties of the film itself, is the main priority. A lot of talented, up and coming film composers get their first film scores released by MovieScore Media, but the label is also releasing interesting scores by well established composers.

Apart from the label, MovieScore Media also offers consulting services and has been hired by concert halls and symphony orchestras to assist in their production of film music concerts. Mikael Carlsson is also a composer in his own right, writing music for television (including the Scandinavian version of hit series Top Model) and concert music for choir. in terms of film music journalism, MovieScore Media produces the web site Upcoming Film Scores and Mikael Carlsson is also the Scoring News editor of Los Angeles-based Film Music Weekly.
